The Meraki Spirit
Meraki means love, skill, perseverance, and creativity put into inspired activities. The Meraki People is a global initiative that invites the world to synergize around a vision for sustainable production rooted in nature.
A Natural Green Factory
Christiana Gardikioti has envisioned Mount Parnonas becoming the first Natural Green Factory of the world, with the village of Agiannis as a center of sustainable development. The plan develops a network of 24 eco-villages on Mount Parnonas in the Peloponnese, re-populating empty Greek villages with green and sustainable businesses that carry global appeal.
Our Programs
The initiative offers a Hands-on Summer School inspired by the Blue Economy, designed to let children be inspired by nature. Yoga retreats connect visitors to the land and the philosophy of producing with heart. Programs, schedules, and enrollment details are available by contacting the team directly.

Press & Recognition
The Meraki People has been featured in Greek press, including Huffington Post GR. A post on «Μπλε Οικονομία»: Η διαδεδομένη σύνδεση επιχειρηματικών δράσεων was published on January 4, 2016. Earlier, on October 1, 2015, an update titled "And the journey continues" charted collaborations with like-minded leaders across Chicago, Minneapolis, and Norway around the Blue Economy.
“A journey to chart Mount Parnonas and a network of 24 villages as the first Natural Factory — funded for what matters in local economies.”— The Meraki People community update, October 2015
The Meraki People approach production as an act of care, weaving together technology and the wisdom of natural systems to create processes that serve both humanity and the planet. Drawing inspiration from the Blue Economy, this philosophy moves beyond sustainability toward regeneration, where every output nourishes the ecosystem it belongs to. The result is a humanized form of production that respects local contexts and living systems alike.
Nature has always been the most elegant engineer, solving complex challenges with minimal resources and zero waste. By observing how ecosystems function, The Meraki People translate biological principles into practical frameworks for communities and small enterprises. These nature-inspired models emphasize circular flows, resource efficiency, and the interconnectedness that makes natural systems resilient over time.
Bridging technology and nature means neither rejecting innovation nor romanticizing the past. Instead, it calls for a thoughtful integration where digital tools amplify ecological intelligence rather than override it. This middle path opens up possibilities for production methods that are both modern and deeply rooted in the rhythms of the living world, honoring progress and preservation in equal measure.
Hands-on learning forms the backbone of the Summer School experience, where children and young participants engage directly with nature’s design principles. Through observation, experimentation, and creative play, they discover how natural systems solve problems and how those insights can shape the way we make, build, and live. The goal is to spark a lifelong curiosity grounded in ecological awareness.
The journey continues across the landscapes of Mount Parnonas, where a network of villages offers a living laboratory for reimagining local economies. Here, production is not an abstract concept but something woven into daily life, shaped by terrain, tradition, and community. The vision of a Natural Factory takes root in these relationships between people, place, and purposeful work.
At the heart of The Meraki People lies the Greek concept of meraki itself: putting soul, creativity, and love into what you do. This ethos transforms ordinary tasks into meaningful contributions, infusing production with intention and care. When people work with meraki, the outcome transcends mere functionality and becomes something that genuinely serves the common good.
Yoga retreats offered through the community create space for reflection and reconnection, reminding participants that inner balance and outer action are deeply linked. These gatherings blend mindful movement with conversations about ecology and economy, fostering a holistic understanding of well-being that extends beyond the individual to encompass the health of the wider world.
Community updates from the field reveal a steady, grounded momentum: mapping natural assets, strengthening village networks, and exploring funding pathways that align with local values. The Mount Parnonas initiative exemplifies how small-scale, place-based efforts can ripple outward, demonstrating that meaningful change often begins with listening closely to a landscape and its people.
The projects and muses that inspire The Meraki People come from diverse sources: traditional craftsmanship, cutting-edge biomimicry, regenerative agriculture, and social enterprise models that prioritize purpose over profit. Each influence contributes a thread to a larger tapestry of ideas about how human creativity can harmonize with the planet’s operating system rather than work against it.
To produce with heart is to recognize that every act of making carries ethical weight. The Meraki People invite communities, families, and collaborators to explore this principle through their programs, retreats, and ongoing initiatives. In a world hungry for more humane ways of living and working, this quiet, dedicated effort offers a compelling alternative grounded in nature’s timeless intelligence.
Respecting Resources, Culture, and People
The mission is to bridge technology and nature for the planet's and humanity's sake, restoring Greece to its greatness through respectful, inclusive, and participatory ecosystems. Cross-border collaboration — from the Nordics to the American Midwest — fuels the model of local economies that matter.
